WRIGHT, William Henry Kearley (1844-1915)

Previously a bank clerk and a railway clerk he identified himself closely with the social and cultural life of his city and became a local historian; he was responsible for the Drake statue and Armada Memorial on Plymouth Hoe. He also did pioneer work with local elementary schools.
